HDPE Skid Spacers for Casing Pipes

HDPE skid spacers—also known as casing spacers or pipe spacers—support, center and electrically isolate a carrier pipe inside a larger casing pipe.

Their non-metallic construction helps protect coated and cathodically protected pipelines from direct contact with the casing. The modular design can be configured for a wide range of pipe diameters, installation clearances and load requirements.

Manufactured from high-density polyethylene, these spacers provide a practical combination of strength, corrosion resistance, low friction and electrical isolation for demanding pipe-in-pipe installations.

Applications

These non-corroding, non-metallic casing spacers are designed for pipe-in-pipe applications, including cased crossings, road and railway crossings, bore installations and sliplining projects.

They can support medium- and heavy-duty carrier pipes made from steel, ductile iron, mild-steel cement-lined pipe, glass-reinforced epoxy, PVC and HDPE. The segmented design accommodates outside diameters from approximately 400 mm to 1600 mm and can be extended for larger diameters by adding additional segments.

Key Features

Durable HDPE Construction High flexural strength, abrasion resistance, chemical resistance and reliable performance across a broad temperature range.
Low-Friction Installation Integrated runners help reduce insertion resistance, allowing the carrier pipe to move more smoothly through the casing.
Non-Metallic and Non-Corrosive The HDPE segments and nylon fasteners provide electrical isolation and eliminate corrosion associated with metallic spacer components.
Modular Segment Design Snap-together segments are assembled around the carrier pipe and secured with nylon fasteners. Segment quantities are selected to match the required pipe outside diameter.
Load-Sharing Runner System Loads are distributed across multiple runners to reduce localized point loading and increase the spacer ring's overall load capacity.
Configurable Runner Heights Different runner heights can be combined within one spacer ring to compensate for clearance variations or assist with grade correction.
